The renowned publisher has secured a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to direct the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently crafting the anticipated third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Brinkman assumes the leadership position at the development studio following the exit of former leader the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' lackluster unveiling last fall.
On Wednesday, the company's top executive David Ismailer informed employees about this organizational change through an official communication, which highlighted that playtesting had revealed the necessity for a more defined vision.
The president noted that the developers is now overhauling the project with a refreshed vision, aiming to satisfy player expectations.
The news echoes a comparable action taken by the publisher in August, when they hired Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to assist with the beloved franchise development group.
Here is the complete text from the president's announcement:
Team—
I understand you all just finished your meeting - I trust you’re as excited as I am with the positive developments. Previously I shared you all a note, I stated the following: “I am confident in this crew. You all are some of the most motivated and innovative developers we have had the pleasure to collaborate with - and we’re eager for that relationship to endure.”
Through your commitment and versatility, especially over the past twelve months, you continue to prove that.
The gamer responses from last fall’s Project ETHOS testing phase was revealing. It affirmed the promise of a roguelike shooter but made clear we still had improvements to make. It uncovered the requirement for a more distinct brand.
The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve progressed. You accepted the input to heart and revamped Project ETHOS with a revitalized direction - one that’s ready to fulfill its promise to our audience.
Our confidence in Project ETHOS increases every day. To further the remarkable development you’ve made, It is a pleasure to introduce the new hire as the incoming Studio Head of 31st Union. Following several months of talks, Ben officially joins us on next week.
Ben’s guidance and expertise in the PVP shooter field is considerable, having dedicated the last 15 years developing and managing some of the most popular titles in the industry, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, and lately, Apex Legends.
Let’s together in receiving him in the coming days. We are all eager to continue observing the evolution of Project ETHOS in the months to come.
