Micky van de Ven Double Halts Everton's Run at New Home Ground

The Tottenham defender scored on two occasions as Tottenham prolonged their winning streak on the road in the Premier League and delivered Everton their initial loss at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Toffees were unbeaten in their five previous fixtures at their new ground at the dockside location, having left Goodison Park behind after more than a century at the conclusion of the previous campaign.

This victory moves Thomas Frank's side up to third in the Premier League, five points off north London rivals and table-toppers the Gunners.

Everton remain in 14th position and are six points clear of the drop zone.

Spurs breakdown: Van de Ven fulfils role at each end of the field

Following a drab midweek performance in the Champions League against the French side, where they managed a only two shots on target, the manager chose Randal Kolo Muani in attack instead of former Toffees player the Brazilian.

The club's new home had been a fortress, but it seems the freshness may have faded slightly and fans flocked to the gates after Sarr's final goal for Tottenham.

The end in Everton's winning streak at home will not be a major worry for David Moyes, but their striker situation will be.

Beto and Thierno Barry - the Everton's pair of recognised strikers - had netted just one league goal between them before Sunday's match.

And they were unable to add to that poor tally on a wet and gloomy evening on Merseyside.

The striker's performance was summed up when he chose to overhead kick a clear chance from close range, despite having room and time to readjust for a simpler shot that would have challenged Vicario.

The substitute, as well, failed to influence the game after replacing the starter in the 65th minute.
