President Endorses Measure to Disclose Additional Jeffrey Epstein Documents After Months of Pushback

Donald Trump announced on Wednesday evening that he had approved the legislation resoundingly approved by American lawmakers that mandates the justice department to release more files related to the deceased financier, the deceased sex offender.

This action follows weeks of pushback from the chief executive and his supporters in the legislature that divided his Maga base and created rifts with various established backers.

Donald Trump had fought against releasing the related records, calling the situation a "fabrication" and railing against those who attempted to publish the documents public, notwithstanding pledging their release on the campaign trail.

But he changed direction in recent days after it became apparent the legislative chamber would approve the legislation. The president stated: "There are no secrets".

It's not clear what the agency will make public in response to the legislation – the bill details a range of possible documents that need to be disclosed, but provides exceptions for certain documents.

The legislation mandates the top justice official to make unclassified related documents accessible to the public "available for online access", encompassing every inquiry into Jeffrey Epstein, his colleague Ghislaine Maxwell, flight logs and movement logs, individuals mentioned or identified in association with his illegal activities, entities that were connected with his exploitation or financial networks, immunity deals and further court deals, internal communications about charging decisions, documentation of his imprisonment and demise, and details about possible record elimination.

The agency will have 30 days to turn over the documents. The legislation contains some exceptions, such as removals of personal details of victims or private records, any representations of minor exploitation, disclosures that would jeopardize active investigations or legal cases and descriptions of demise or mistreatment.
