Uche Sparks Straightforward Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Despite entering their maiden European adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting very quickly. Missing star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable win that all but secures them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further victory in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight entry to the last 16, particularly after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity

This match provided a platform for several Palace's fringe talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second game in match.

The Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season proved no match even for a largely second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.

Control Asserted from the Outset

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee dismissed the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's shot had struck the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
